Art – graphic elements

The basic art – graphic elements of graphic design are point, line, position, surface, size, and texture.

The set of these elements represented in the form of the graphic design represents an interconnected whole. With the application of aesthetic principles of form and appropriate means of expression, visual harmony creates, according to which the function and aesthetics of graphic design evaluated.

Means of expression

Illustration – one of the basic components of graphic design(stock haven) and can express through drawings and photographs. An excellent choice and realization of the illustration can achieve the four elements that should include graphic design (attention, interest, decision, action).

The first and most important function of illustration is to attract the attention of observers and to create interest, from which decisions and actions will later emerge.

An illustrator is a graphic artist who creates images related to text, most often a book or a novel. The illustration should serve to better understand the text, and you can only use it for aesthetic reasons, to improve the visual experience.

Text – it has the task to better and more express the message and justify the attention caused by the illustration.

For a better read of many lines of text, pay attention to the length of the lines.

Spacing is crucial for better readability of the text.

Also, excessive space between words breaks the message into individual elements, forcing the reader to read individual words, not complete sentences. The optimal line spacing is an eye guide. When the gap is too large, the reader consciously jumps to the next line, which slows down reading. On the other hand, too little space creates dark, unattractive typographic color and undefined horizontal reading guides.

┬áColor – gives the designer dynamism, attracts the attention of the viewer, and affects his emotions. The designer can use color to organize the composition and highlight individual details. You can use color to group elements, emphasize meaning, and improve the aesthetic design experience. Inappropriate use of paint can impair the shape and function of the design.

For a narrower definition of each color, we use three attributes: hue, saturation, and illumination. The color tone shows the color itself (yellow, orange, red, green, blue). It determines by the wavelength of light that causes the feeling of that color in the eye. It defined as the chromatic quality of color, the quality with which it is one color differs from another.

Saturation represents the degree of color purity. By mixing achromatic color with an achromatic color of the same brightness, the brightness of the color remains the same, and the color saturation changes. The less gray in a color, the more it is cleaner, brighter, it has a higher saturation. Brightness is the quality by which light color differs from the dark. The change in lighting is caused by mixing colors with black or white. Most people can distinguish at least 40 shades of each color.

Textures and patterns – are also often found as integral elements of design composition.

The texture is the tactile quality of a surface, a visual simulation or representation of that quality. In visual art, we distinguish two types of textures: tactile and visual. Tactile or actual textures have real tactile value and you can touch and feel them.

Visual textures are the illusion of real textures, and we create them from photographic or scanned material, as well as by drawing, painting, or other means.

A pattern is a constant repetition of one visual unit or element within a certain area. Forms can be simple and complex. Given that to repeat the pattern, we define the visual rhythm of the area in which we apply it.

Basic design principles

Balance

For people, the striving for stability and balance is innate, and we consider balanced compositions as harmonious, while we can react to those who are not in balance, negative. Balance is the stability, the balance of the visual weights of the elements within the default format.

To achieve balance, we must take into account not only the visual weights of the elements but also their positions and layout within the format. The same element placed on different parts of the format will not have the same visual weight.

Harmony

Unity means the existence of harmony between individuals’ design elements. They are not only randomly scattered within the format but are visually connected. Compositions whose elements are harmonized have a stronger impression of unity and integrity. Graphic structures like a grid help us align elements.

Emphasis

Since the principal task of visual communication design is the transmission of information, achieving a visual hierarchy in the composition is of special importance. The visual hierarchy represents the organization, the layout of all graphic elements by the emphasis we give them. By giving importance to certain information, we organize the composition and simplify communication.

Rhythm

Rhythm is a design principle based on the repetition of a certain element or whole.

In visual works, the term rhythm refers to the eye movements of the observer who directs the established pattern of graphic elements. A clear visual rhythm contributes to creating stability and consistency. Establishing a recognizable rhythm is important when designing complex design compositions such as magazines, books, websites, and more. Rhythm creates a connected and complete flow, and we link the freestockhaven.com.

Technological advances have enabled the world of the designer’s imagination to transform into a message to the customer through various media, introducing him to a virtual world full of challenges. Modern consumers expect from products and companies not only physiological satisfaction of needs but also the creation of fresh feelings, pleasures, and everything that they did not have or felt when using previous products and services. Since modern technology is still not developing at the speed of thinking, graphic designers must consider the feasibility of the design.

Graphic design, as well as other services, allow adding value to the product as interest in a more beautifully packaged, presented, and deliberately distributed product greatly increases.
