A quick guide to BarCamp Phnom Penh ‘09:
* Pre-register on our official website: http://barcampphnompenh.org/. On the site, you’ll find a link (Register now). Please add your name, topics you’d like to learn/present and any organization you represent on the form, to give coordinators an idea as to how many people are coming (and to get your T-shirt (with BarCamp Phnom Penh ‘09 cool logo) and name-tag).
* Showing up at the announced starting time will be fine. Show up late, you’ll miss some social activity and your T-shirt, among other things/stuff.
* Bring a laptop (not always necessary) – It’s great for showing off that program you mentioned in your session. Plus, at the BarCamp Phnom Penh conferencem, Paññasastra University of Cambodia (PUC), wireless Internet connection is provided (thanks to Internet Service Provider Ezecom), and plenty of downtime to browse around and look into everything you’ve learned.
* When you arrive, go to the pre-registration desk, where you can claim your name-tag (and a nice T-shirt). We start by gathering together in the large conference hall (which can accommodate up to 600 people). There, Pagna the Master of Ceremony will walk you through the entire event. After this, people who intend to lead a session will add their session info to an empty schedule grid (may be moved around early on). If you see a session you’re interested in, go for it.
* After a couple of sessions, you will have a significant amount of downtime for lunch. Feel free to wander around and socialize while or after you eat. More announcements will be made, and any newly proposed sessions will be announced.
* Once the sessions are finished, please stick around to clean up. It’s generally as simple as throwing trash away and taking down signs, but all the help is appreciated.
* Be ready/willing to participate – come with an idea for a presentation session. You don’t have to be an expert at your topic; as long as it’s not too specific, there’ll probably be someone else present who can help you out. You can also contribute to the conversation during a session. This is a great way to participate, since it spreads knowledge from everyone, instead of just the presenter/speaker.

Some Rules of BarCamp Phnom Penh
* You do talk about BarCamp Phnom Penh ‘09.
* You do bloging, tweeting, facebooking about BarCamp Phnom Penh ‘09.
* If you want to present, you must write your topic and name in a presentation slot (whiteboards will be provided).

Frequently Asked Questions:
* Chamroeun: It’s the first time for me to know about BarCamp in Phnom Penh. What will I do as a participant?
* Paul: Whether you go to BarCamp as a presenter or just to show up at the event, the key word is simply “participate”. When you have an idea about something that is interesting to you, go ahead and do a presentation. If you go there just to see presentations don’t be passive. At the end of any presentation, shoot your questions. Very often, at any BarCamp, once a presentation finished, people keep going their discussion on the topic.
